Today I'll be sharing with you my makeup collection and storage. My collection is not what you'd call minimalistic, in fact I estimate I have more makeup than the average person my age. However, it's definitely not on the same level as other more serious beauty bloggers. It's comprised of mostly lower end products with the occasional mid range item thrown in the mix. I suppose for me this doubles as a bit of a visual makeup inventory for me(I already have a spreadsheet which I can also share) and is a good way of reminding myself of what I already have. So without further ado, let's head onwards to my visual inventory.
Storage
For storage I have a clear, four drawer acrylic stationary storage which I bought from Officeworks for $16.96 here. It's not the most elegant storage set; it feels a tad flimsy and the drawers can squeak a little bit. Regardless it's still sturdy enough for my purposes and the larger fourth drawer is more useful to me than many other acrylic storage options. Each drawer can also be popped out for easier organisation. I have lined each drawer with a non slip mat which I bought in a roll from Daiso then cut to size. This is especially useful for my lip drawer to stop the tubes from rolling around. For a total storage cost of just under ~$20, I don't think that this system is too shabby at all!
Eyes

- Lorac Skinny Palette in Nude
For someone who doesn't really like eyeshadow very much, I think I've got way too much of it |
Goodness! Counting individual shades I've got 51, most of which are neutral. In all honestly I don't need this much eyeshadow. Next time I mention wanting to buy anymore please direct me back to this image so I can judge myself for having way more than I need.
Eyeliner
Get back in line Koji Pencil Liner! |
From L-R:
- EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Pot Liner in Blackest Black
- Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Liner in Deep Black
- Etude House Drawing Show Brush Liner in BK801
- Essebce Longlasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever
- Koji Dolly Wink Pencil Eyeliner in Brown
- Wet n Wild ColorIcon Brow and Eyeliner in Bronzed
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Nude
- Max Factor Liquid Effect Pencil in Lilac Flame
- Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil in Surfer Babe
I'm not too fussed about this section even if I rarely wear eyeliner. Still, I won't be purchasing anymore until I can make a good dent in the stash here.
Eyebrows, Mascaras and Eye Primers
From L-R:
- Essence I Love Extreme Volume Waterproof in Black
- Maybelline Full 'n' Soft Waterproof in Blackest Black(unopened
- Daiso Brow Pencil in Grey
- Daiso Brow Pencil in Grey (unopened)
- Essence Eyebrow Designer in Black
- Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (sample size)
- NYX HD Eyeshadow Base
I'm pretty happy with this section. Two of these items are products I want to use up this year and everything else gets rotated through pretty regularly. To be honest, I can't wait to chuck out the Essence mascara and go back to my old faithful Maybelline so that'll get rid of things doubly quick.
Face
Sunscreen
From L-R:
- Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel
- Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel
- Etude House Sunprise Must Daily
Suprise suprise, these are all Asian sunscreens. I much prefer the formulas of these over what is more prevalent in the Australian market. They aren't tacky, don't leave a white cast and give a much nicer finish to the skin which in turn makes it much more likely for me to wear them. Currently trying to pan the Biore first after which I'll probably switch to the Hada Labo instead.
Foundation, BB Cream and Concealers
From L-R:
- Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in Beige Claire, 53
- Maybelline Pure BB Mineral Watergel in Medium Beige, 02
- Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Classic Beige
- Maybelline FitMe Concealer in Sand, 20
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Neutraliser
As you can see, I don't really favour foundations or BB creams to even out my complexion, Instead I'll normally just conceal dark circles with either the Age Rewind or the Rimmel then spot conceal blemishes with the FitMe concealer. Regardless, I still like having the option to really even out my skin somedays which is why I keep the foundation and the BB cream around.
Loose Powders
From L-R:
- Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation in Light 4
- W7 Sheer Loose Powder in Honey
I don't really use loose powders much, they're typically too messy. I might get rid of these and get a truly translucent loose powder later on in the year. Maybe.
Pressed Powders
From L-R:
- Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder in Translucent
- Rimmel Stay Matte in Translucent
I'm so pleased with the amount of pan I've hit on the Essence powder! I'll hopefully use that up and then move onto the Rimmel. At this point I'm probably set for the next year in terms of pressed powders.
Blush
Add caption |
Clockwise from Top Left:
- Essence Blush Up! Powder Blush in Heat Wave
- Savvy Classic Blush in Cherry
- TheBalm Instain Blush in Pinstripe
- Essence Silky Touch Blush in Natural Beauty
I think blush is one of my favourite categories of makeup. I tend to stick to more muted colours and I think I've got most major colour families in my collection already. The one thing I might buy this year is a cream blush to experiment with layering it under one of these powders to make both longerlasting as well as on its own for a more dewey finish to the skin.
Contour and Highlight
Contour and highlight isn't a category I see myself really needing to purchase in. I'm very pleased with the product I already have and I've got enough eyeshadow that I can easily repurpose for these uses. The only exception I might make is to purchase a travel size Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector as I've been wanting to try a liquid highlight ever since I finished my sample of the Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer.
- Maybelline Master Sculpt in Medium/Dark
Lips
From L-R:
- Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvent in Orange-ology
- Sephora Collection Cream Lipstain in Always Red
- Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in Kiss of Life, 111
- Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Fashionista, 80
- Savvy Perfect Pout Lip Set (2014) mini in Platform
- Savvy Perfect Pout Lip Set (2014) mini in Nudie Run
- Essence Longlasting Lipstick in Barely There!
- Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie (discontinued :( )
- Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in As You Want Victoria
- Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint in PK02
- NYX Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler
- NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu
- Maybelline Shinesensational Lip Gloss in Berry Bella (discontinued)
- Essence Lip Liner in Red Blush (formula has been updated since I purchase it)
As a rule it seems I tend to go towards brighter lip shades. I don't really think there's many holes in my colour sellection, perhaps a burgundy or medium pink but I would like to get some more lip liners so as to have cleaner lip lines.
Nails
Base Coats and Top Coats
From L-R:
- Essie First Base
- Natio Top Coat
- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
- Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat
I'm a big fan of the Insta-Dri as an alternative to Seche Vite (which is difficult to source in Australia). The Essie is also good, it's really fast drying (sensing a theme here yet!). The only purchase I might make in this category is a replacement for the Insta-Dri but only if I completely finish the entire bottle.
Coloured Polishes
Please ignore the blutack, it's from the lip product photo. I promise it's not gum! |
From L-R:
- Essence the Gel Nail Polish in give me nude! baby
- Maybelline Color Show in Blackout
- Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Copper Pot
- Sinful Colors Nail Polish in You Just Wait
- Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Purple Heart
- Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Berry Important
- Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Roulette Rush
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Hot Tamale
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed
- Natio Nail Polish in Dahlia
- Natio Nail Polish in Melon
- Natio Nail Polish in Blossom
I tend to favour warmer colours for my nails though I do want to experiment with greens and blues as well. The only purchase I know I definitely want to make is OPI's tickle my france-y that I expanded on here.
