The Books:
At the beginning of this year I'll be studying six subjects. One of them is Photography which doesn't really need an excercise book so I've got five with me at the moment. I normally use 5mm graph paper books for my maths books but I've looked over the units we'll be covering and I don't think I'll need to be drawing a lot for them so I just grabbed two excercise books I had lying around. I'm fairly sure I bought all of these excercise books at Officeworks over the course of a couple of years.
I've also bought a 2016 diary. I selected this one in particular it because it has holes in the side to allow you to quickly flick to the correct month which just makes it very convenient. I really like making lists so having a diary is a good way for me to organise them.
The Organisers:
If there's one thing that I learnt about my school last year it was the amount of loose leaf handouts they gave me. To help organise them, I grabbed this expanding file from the Martha Stewart Homewares line from Officeworks (which I'm fairly sure is being discontinued as it was heavily marked down). It lies much flatter than a lot of other expanding files I've seen which is just more convenient for me to use.
I've also got a folder from last year that I'm reusing for photography this year again. It's a three ring binder which I've found to be the most convenient for me as it fits most of the photo negative sleaves that I use.
The Pencilcase:
This pencil case is just a bag I got from a QANTAS flight on the trip that we were very luckily bumped up to business class. If it means anything to you it was a collaboration between QANTAS and Florence Broadhurst, but I chose it because I liked the geometric design.
Inside the Pencilcase:
I have seven writing implements. I tend to favour black pens over blue (in fact the only blue pen I have is the fountatin pen!). Now, I don't pretend to be a pen connisieur or anything but this is what I've found useful to have on hand to take notes or study.
These are just some middle of the road pens, perfectly functional but nothing special. These are the ones for everyday use or just to lend to scatterbrained friends.

This is the Pentel Energel-X BL107 Gel Pen in Black . From the name you can obviously tell that it's a black gel pen but this pen in particular has a very smooth flow, dries quickly and doesn't smudge. While I don't say that everyone needs this exact pen, I reckon everyone needs a pen that is both reliable comfortable to write with. This is my exam pen as I can write for long periods of time with it without cramping up my hand and I can always rely on the inkflow to be legible. However, I will warn you that this particular pen does run out of ink relatively quickly in comparison to a ballpoint pen so you will need to repurchase it throughout the year.
This is a generic fountain pen I found at Daiso and it works well for it's price ($2.80!). I also bought a pack of five refills. It has blue black ink which I prefer to straight up blue ink. This is the pen to show off. While it might be cheap it looks impressive and is good for those days when you want to intimidate your opponents classmates or just feel like a general bad ass. I know it's not the best fountain pen out there but it's a cheap way to feel awesome on a day to day basis.
I got this from Smiggle many years back and while it may be childish it's very useful for organising my note taking. Not much to say, it's not particularly nice to write with but it's nice to have around.
On a similar topic I also have three different colours of highlighters which are useful for note taking. They're a tad old and beat up but they all still work so I didn't feel the need to get anymore. As you can see the smaller ones stack which makes them much more comfortable to use as they become the size of just a normal highlighter.

I tend to just keep the one pencil mostly for diagrams or things I know I'll need to erase. I prefer to write in pen so there wasn't really a need for me to get a fancy pencil when I barely use it anyway. The eraser and the sharpener are around just for the upkeep of the pencil.
A new purchase for me this year. My pencil case is quite small so I can only fit a 15cm ruler in it. I use to have a plastic folding ruler but that warped and my lines were never straight. I've bought this stainless steel ruler as it's probably the most durable ruler available for me.
I've also got two white outs. I prefer the tape kind as I'm much too impatient to wait for the liquid kind to dry. If you're wondering what the orange stuff is, I managed to spill nail polish on it sometime last year and just never bothered getting out the nail polish remover!

This is a Toshiba USB 2.0 16gb flash drive. It's useful to carry one of these around to transfer or save files onto. I didn't need anything flash (haha get it!) though so I just grabbed the cheapest 16gb usb at the store I went to which turned out to be this one. It's functional which is all I really need it to be.
And that brings the conclusive overview of my 2016 school supplies to an end. What are you bringing back to school for the new year? Anything you think I should have?
